ICD 10 Changes October 1, 2025

The official ICD-10 updates for Fiscal Year 2026 go into effect on October 1st, 2025. The update contains 487 new, 28 deleted, and 38 revised ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes. These 2026 ICD-10-CM codes will be used for patient encounters from Oct. 1, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026. The changes that are relevant to chiropractic are few, but there are a few that might apply, such as symptom codes and codes that describe a patient’s socioeconomic status. Missouri Chiropractic Physicians’ Association hosts Fundraiser to Support Federal Chiropractic Legislation!
Save the Date! Chiropractic Fundraiser for Rep. Jason Smith Slated for Oct. 23
Logan University in Chesterfield, MO, will again host a special chiropractic fundraiser for House Ways and Means Chair Rep. Jason Smith on October 23, starting at 3:30 p.m. CDT. The Ways and Means Committee has primary jurisdiction over Medicare issues, and the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act has been referred to it. This bill, H.R. 539, if passed, would allow beneficiaries to access all Medicare-covered benefits allowable under a chiropractor’s state licensure. KCA Board of Directors Meeting Update – September 19, 2025
The Kansas Chiropractic Association (KCA) Board of Directors met on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Hughes Metropolitan Complex in Topeka. President Dr. Brad Pyle called the meeting to order, with all officers present, as well as directors from all eight KCA Districts, and several guests in attendance.
Key Actions and Decisions
- Vice-President Appointment – The Board appointed Dr. Al Schwerdtfager to serve as Vice-President for the remainder of 2025
- Student Support – The Board approved sponsorship of two chiropractic students and an Eagle Sponsorship ($1,450) for the upcoming CUKC–SACA Golf Tournament
- KCA Visibility – New feather flags will be purchased to help brand and identify KCA events across the state
Reports and Updates
- President’s Report – Dr. Pyle emphasized efforts to revitalize the Kansas Chiropractic Foundation, which supports chiropractic advancement in the state
- Executive Director’s Report – Dr. Travis Oller highlighted progress on Statusfi, upcoming convention planning, and legislative advocacy initiatives
- Medicare Committee – Guest Dr. Jeremy Will presented updates on federal legislation and compliance issues affecting chiropractic practices
- ACA Report – Dr. Brian Asbury shared insights on the ACA’s Medicare Modernization Act currently moving through Congress
- Strategic Planning – The Board reviewed next steps in the Strategic Plan, with deeper discussion scheduled during the Sunday planning session
- District Reports – District leaders shared updates, including upcoming CE events, physician presentations, and renewed efforts to strengthen local activity
Looking Ahead
The Board remains focused on supporting Kansas chiropractors through advocacy, education, compliance resources, and member engagement initiatives. Members are encouraged to watch for updates on district meetings, Fall Convention highlights, and new opportunities to get involved.
KCA Annual Meeting Highlights – September 20, 2025
The Kansas Chiropractic Association held its Annual Meeting on Saturday, September 20, 2025, in Topeka. President Dr. Brad Pyle provided members with an update on the association’s activities over the past year, highlighting advocacy, education, and member engagement efforts.
A significant milestone was reached this year with the first update to the KCA Bylaws since 2011, made possible through the effort and dedication of Dr. Justin Fulk.
Members also elected the following officers for 2026:
- President – Dr. Alvin Schwertfager
- Vice-President – Dr. Logan Null
- Secretary-Treasurer – Dr. Rebekah Cates
Dr. Bradley Pyle will continue to serve the Board as Immediate Past President in 2026.
The KCA extends its appreciation to all members who participated in the Annual Meeting and looks forward to another year of advancing chiropractic in Kansas.
